Saigon Alleyway

Sunset Walks

Evening walks are some of the best as the sun goes down and the city cools. Get outside after 3 pm.

Night Snacks

This area can get somewhat busy during rush hour but the walk starts at a legendary crab soup location that has a special noodle with a different bounce to it called ‘Banh Canh’. Enjoy a short walk next to the river and into what used to be Phu Nhuan District where you can stop at a tofu stall that has a bunch of different jellies and snacks. Finally, if the heat and walking are catching up to you, there are fruit teas and coffee a few hundred meters away in front of Co-Op Mart and in the apartment complex ground floor at the end of the walking route.

Tan Dinh

This offers a good concentration of places in a short walkable distance. Hang out in Le Van Tam Park, which used to be a cemetery during French colonial times. It is a great place in the late afternoon as people enjoy different sports like rollerblading, dance practice, power walking, basketball, beach volleyball, and racquet sports.

Head through a few alleys to Tan Dinh Church or the ‘Pink Church’. Most beautiful from the outside, you cannot enter during mass time. The best view is arguably across the street at the the coffee shop balcony or other vantage points.

Tan Dinh Market is a local market but still offers clothing and other footwear. There are also hawkers offering soup, cold drinks, and in the evening, Singaporean Frog Congee. Com Tam is available until very late in front of the market once it is closed. Grab a drink at a trendy alternative brew pub near the end of the walk.
